Since the words "parable" and "parabola" share their etymology, it is only natural that one should write a series of moral stories and illustrate it with compositions based on the intersections of right circular cones and their parallel planes.

Parable: from the Latin "parabola", = "comparison" in the sense of discourse or allegory
Parabola: from the Greek "parabolē" = "placing side-by-side" from "para" = "beside" and "bolē" = "a throw"
